Mini Pool Table

Growing up my family always had a pool table in the basement. I love to play 8 ball and it really allows everyone to get together. However, when I headed off to college I didn’t have the money or space to get a pool table of my own. That is when I discovered the mini pool table.

Now there are different types of mini pool tables available and have different price ranges. There is the traditional size slate pool table which may range between 7 and 10 feet long. Some snooker tables are much larger upwards of 15 feet or more. However the mini pool table comes between 4 to 6 feet long. An important note to consider is that when we refer to mini pool table we aren’t talking about a kids pool table. These are two very different things.

In fact, a kid’s pool table is usually made of plastic and cheap accessories. I’ve also seen pool tables that fit in your hand. These are merely toys and can be bought for under $50. I did try using one of the kid’s pool tables but found it to be quite unpredictable and would never play a serious game of 9 ball with it. Perhaps if you were having a party it might be a fun idea to take one out just to horse around with.

Here are some things I like about the mini pool table:

-       Most don’t require coins or other simulated currency. The problem with some coin machines is that the magnetic parts will break after constant home use as they are not built like the ones in the billiards halls. And besides, who wants to keep tossing money in to a machine to play a game in your home?

-       I love the fact that it is small and easily manageable by one person. One person could never lift a standard size pool table alone.

-       Although most mini pool tables come with their own set of smaller sized balls, usually you can also use regular sized balls. If you already have a pool table it will save you money. If you don’t have a pool table then no worries because regular sized pool balls are usually cheaper and easier to find at your local pool shops.

-       If you need to replace the felt, you can usually buy 1 sheet of regular pool table felt and it will give you two applications for your mini pool table. 

-       And ultimately the number one thing I love is that they can be put in to almost any room because of their size. I am an absolute pool fanatic and enjoy playing pool on a smaller table just as much as a larger one.

If you are thinking about buying a used pool table then you might want to consider buying a new mini pool table. With all the benefits I’ve mentioned, you will also have the added advantage of saving hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on the initial purchase and beyond. If you love pool as much as I do, go to your local pool shop and test one out. Honestly, you won’t be able to say no to the sales clerk.
